I just don’t understand why people put so much value on possessions. I understand if you’re a fan of someone and you like to have some memorabilia, an autograph or a photo with that person, that’s cool, but when it comes to spending thousands, tens of thousands or millions on something that a celebrity once wore, touched or wrote, I just don’t get it.
Later this year, Marilyn Monroe fans will have the opportunity to bid on items that she once wore – including the dress she wore when singing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. The current owner is reportedly a private investor who purchased the gown in a 1999 auction for nearly $1.3 million and the dress is expected to fetch somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 Million!
