The Top 6 performed classic songs from the band Queen on American Idol last night, and it’s fair to say that usually at this point the shows competition is heating up and everyone needs to bring their A-game with every performance. What went down? We have the recap!

Last night’s episode of Idol began with a Queen Medley performed by the remaining 6 contestants, and they were even joined by band members Brian May and Roger Taylor.

Next of course came the individual performances. Each contestant sang two songs, the first being a Queen hit and then a song of their own choosing. Here is a rundown of who sang what:

Jessica Sanchez started out with her rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and her voice did not sound bad at all with that song choice. Next came an emotional and moving performance of the song “Dance With My Father.” JLo even commented saying that her performance of this song was the best she’s heard.

Skylar Laine sang “The Show Must Go On” for her Queen song, and it was Steven Tyler’s favorite performance of the night. She also sang “Tattoos On This Town” and Steven once again praised her for her energetic performances.

Hollie Cavanaugh sang Queen’s “Save Me,” but received a standing O for her rendition of Miley Cyrus“The Climb” JLo proclaimed that “The Hollie Cavanaugh we know is back!”

Phillip Phillips performed a rendition of “Fat Bottomed Girls” for his first number and overall his performance was fun and spirited. For his second song he sang Dave Matthews’ “The Stone” (interestingly enough, he has been compared to Dave Matthews the entire season).

Elise Testone opened with a rendition of “I Want It All” and received some good reviews, however, her next song “Bold As Love” by Jimi Hendrix wasn’t really what the judges wanted to see.

And finally, the talk of the night is once again Joshua Ledet. He recieved two standing ovations last night for his performances of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and India.Arie’sReady For Love.” The judges all agreed that his performances were both unbelievable.

Did you watch Idol last night? Who do you think will be packing their bags?
